New interview on simply shredded
i know it's been a while since last time i kept you updated. I've been pretty busy these days. Many have asked me when is my next competition, as of now the answer is i don't know yet. I feel that my body needs a break to recover and grow. I've been competing for the past 3 years back to back, that pretty much means that i've been dieting and training non-stop for that long. i'm not saying that i will stop training (that would never happen), i will still be doing photo shoots, videos and appearances but i probably won't compete till next year.
Here's a recent interview i did for simplyshredded.com

TRX Full body training
we're about 2 days out of the WBFF World championship 2010. I'm having a hard time falling asleep and decided to work on some of the many footage we filmed after the WBFF Quebec. This was part of our training session towards the WBFF World which will be this Saturday September 18th. I thought i would leave one last video before my road trip to Mississauga. I will be updating my twitter as well as my facebook fan page during the competition. If you want to stay tuned visit:

High carbs day baby!!!
Keep in mind that I'm now less than 2 weeks out form the WBFF world champioship and i'm still carb cycling and still loading with sodium.
Meal 3 of the day (lunch):
part1 - sweet potatoes hash brown
12oz sweet potatoes shredded
Organic seasoning from Costco to taste
Sea salt to taste
3 to 4 teaspoons of lemon juice
Use olive oil or cooking spray, mix all ingredient in a pan and cook till desired consistency.
part2 - awesome chicken accident lol
6oz chicken breast
Sea salt to taste
Cookhouse Thai spices to taste
1 teaspoon of crushed garlic
and the accident... i opened the Paprika container the wrong way and put more Paprika than i wanted lol. So let's just say Paprika --> to taste :)
cook all ingredient in a pan with a little bit of olive oil or cooking spray.
part 3 - well... nothing complicated to this part
Unlimited spinach!!!
Of course y'all know how much i love hot sauce, so i had to add a bit of that at the end ha ha.
Enjoy!!!

Very low carbs day
Here's a look at my meals today. I'm carb cycling and this my lowest carbs day. I get pretty vascular on this day but don't look as full as i would on a higher carbs day. My body processes fats (good ones) very well, so i don't crash and can actually train pretty hard on such a day. As u can see, i like to be creative with my meals so i don't get bored and i love my hot sauce! lol
meal 1 looks like this:
egg whites, turkey bacon, spinach omelette with avocado.
Meal 2 :
egg whites protein crepes with peanut butter
Meal 3:
Chicken and spinach...pretty boring but look how pretty i made it :)

Meal 4 : is usually a protein shake with greens and peanut butter (always the natural kind)
Meal 5:
Tilapia and broccoli, i can't eat that meal without my hot sauce!
Meal 6:
Salmon and asparagus... love that last meal.
I like to change my spices and discover different low calorie condiment. The trick is to vary the way you cook your meals and present them. Just make it fun and interesting.

Getting to Florida, what an adventure...

Hey all,
i`m finally back from vacation. As some of you probably already knew from my facebook updates. i just got back from Florida where i was invited to audition for an MTV reality show. I can`t give more details about the show at the moment but i will as soon as possible. The Audition went well and i had an amazing time. Despite the many obstacles, my friend and I managed to make it there safe and sound and i got to attend my appointment to the casting call after having to reschedule twice.
How many times have you heard of three canceled/delayed flights just to get to Florida from Canada??? I was originally scheduled to leave Ottawa Sunday evening at 6pm, connect in Philadelphia and arrive in Fort Lauderdale that night around 11:30pm. I received a call at 3pm on Sunday from US Airways saying that my flight was canceled and the only way they could get me to Florida that night would be with a different airline if i could make it to the airport in 45minutes. Let me tell you that i've never packed that quickly in my life lol. I made it to the airport on time at the airport and was informed that this 2nd flight had a 40minutes delay... Meaning that i wouldn't make my connection. My new itinerary required me to fly at 6am Monday morning from Ottawa, connect in Toronto and arrive in Fort Lauderdale around noon. I now had to reschedule my audition from Monday 11:30am to Monday 3pm.
Monday morning, we make our first flight to Toronto and for some reason something had to go wrong again. Oh yeah...The plane arrived in Toronto late making us miss our connection to Fort Lauderdale... again! You can't believe how mad i was, but managed to stay calm while talking to the airline to get another flight. Time was ticking and i still had to make it to my appointment at 3pm.
New itinerary will now bring me to Miami around 1:30pm where i will have to find a way to Fort Lauderdale airport (which is about a 30minutes drive) to get the rental car i reserved and prepaid then drive an hour North to the audition. You can now imagine how annoyed i was and stupid i felt calling to reschedule my appointment once more. The crew was kind enough to fit me in their schedule the next day.
New appointment set for Tuesday 11:45am. I know what you're thinking... no more stress, i can now take my time to get to Fort Lauderdale, relax, get a good night sleep and feel great for the casting call. Well, that`s also what i thought... here we go again, we now get to Miami. I receive a Text Message from my friend Lucas Couturier who arrived 2 days earlier and has no clue what's going on with my flight. Lucas had his appointment Monday at 11:15 and knew mine was supposed to be 15minutes after me so he decided that he would wait for me. I replied to his message to inform him of the situation, but he never received my text (of course... it was one thing after the other that day).
We finally find a "shuttle bus" from Miami airport to Fort Lauderdale for 30$/per person. Let's just say it was more like an old van, but it seemed easier than taking the city bus then the train with all our luggage. We shared the van with 5 other travelers, one of them had to catch a flight in Fort Lauderdale. As we were getting closer to our destination, the van broke down approximately 10minutes away from the airport. My friend and i were getting used to it and were now laughing about it, but i felt bad for the lady who had a flight to catch. Luckily 10-15 minutes later the van started again and got us at the airport. Hopefully the lady made her flight...
We ran into complication with the car rental company, but 45minutes later we got our car and with the help of a GPS made it to the hotel around 4pm completely exhausted. We decided to take a load off and relax by the pool. Meanwhile my friend Lucas was still waiting for me at the audition (my message never reached his phone). He finally calls me, gets the full story and decided to make it back to the hotel so we can all go eat (his trip back to the hotel is another adventure on it's own lol). Weirdly enough, that day was the only rainy day of the trip. It only rained for 15minutes, but it was meaningful. There's always sunshine after the rain, right? :)
The rest of the trip was amazing and our flight back home was smooth. I saw a lot and met many interesting people during my 4 days stay in Florida. Overall, It was a great experience, great trip that made me discover and fall in love with Miami beach.
Now back in training mode, less than 4weeks to go before the WBFF world Championship! Time to refocus and get ripped!

4minutes Tabata circuit.AVI
Sunday's first Tabata wourkout was fun.
We heard about how intense Tabata training was from a friend then started some research on it.
Here are a few things i learned:
Tabata Training was developed by Izumi Tabata (imagine that) at the National Institute of Fitness and Sports in Tokyo, Japan. They did a study on comparing the effects of moderate intensity endurance(aerobics) and high endurance intermittent training(tabata training intervals) on VO2 max and anerobic capacity.
To cut to the results of the study: the moderate intensity group training program produced a significant increase in VO2 max of about 10%, but had no effect on anaerobic capacity. The high intensity group improved their VO2 max by about 14% while anaerobic capacity improved by 28%. The study was done over a six week period. Both groups working out 5 days per week.
The way the wourkout works is pretty simple. You pick a compound exercise like Burpees and try to get as many explosive reps as you can in 20second. Then you have a resting period of only 10seconds, then back at it again for a total of 8 rounds. We decided to modify it a little bit and picked 4 exercises (for the sake of hitting a larger group of muscles) and took a crack at it. I'd like to hear your ideas on the different Tabata workouts you've done.

A little outdoor workout we did a few days prior to the WBFF Quebec championship. If u think fitness models aren't hardcore, well... think again lol. We were at the beach with some friends on a sunday, the gym closes pretty early on Sundays and we didn't really feel like leaving the beach on such a beautiful day.
We decided to scope the area. we found a race track under construction with cinder blocks, metal bars, bleachers, ... you name it. That's when it clicked. Here are a few pics of a hardcore training workout by the beach. We got a good pump out of it!

We can never be thankful enough, but we can always try.
I started my competition journey in 2008 with many doubts and uncertainties, but also with a goal in mind (becoming a WBFF pro) and a willpower that wouldn't be shook.
The WBFF world championship 2008 was my first stage appearance ever. Thanks to my good friend Lucas Couturier who believed in me, I signed up and took a 3rd place right next to two great fitness models I look up to and respect: Kendall Wood and Michael McFarlane. It was one of the greatest experiences I’ve had. The venue was beautiful, the athletes were well taken care of, the event was well organized but what made it really memorable was the atmosphere created by the people who were there. I’m talking about the athletes, volunteers, judges, photographers, spectators... I want to thank all of you and especially all the friends I’ve made backstage... y'all know who you are :)
The WBFF World championship 2009 was my second round on that stage. I was surprised to see that the event I thought was impossible to match - in terms of athletes/audience attendance, quality and organization - was bigger, better and stronger. I could still feel that good energy from the previous year and of course it’s always a blast meeting old friends and new ones at the shows. Although I injured my shoulder at the beginning of my training for that competition and had to get through many obstacles: physically, financially and emotionally, being there on stage with a line-up of the greatest fitness models in the industry made it all worth it. I want to thank and congratulate all the athletes for bringing their best shape and conditioning to the stage. Rob Riches, Obi Obadike and Wash Candido y’all inspired the rest of us to train harder and be better so... thank you guys for that :)
Finally, my 3rd round on the WBFF stage was at the WBFF Quebec championship on Saturday June 19th 2010. It wasn’t the world championship but WOW! The venue was absolutely gorgeous. The casino du Lac Leamy had a great view on the Lake, great lighting on stage, very chic and intimate table setup for the audience and an amazing staff. Once again I wasn’t disappointed with Paul and Allison Dillett for getting a top notch venue.
The level of conditioning the top 5 athletes brought was comparable to a world championship and made me feel bad for the judging panel. So... thank you judges for your hard work :)
Congrats to Ryan Jean Baptiste, Patrick Jolicoeur and Lucas Couturier for placing in the top 3 and winning their pro card. The battle for the 1st place was so close that even with a 4th place I was awarded a pro card. That’s right! I finally achieved that first goal of mine and couldn’t be happier. So I would like to thank Paul and Allison Dillett for welcoming me as a WBFF pro and thanks to my family and friends who supported me every steps of this journey and my coach Dave Ruel for making sure I was as ripped as possible for every shows I’ve done. Many blessings to every single one of you!
Now let’s do it again! Time to work harder than ever, sky is not the limit... On to the next challenge: WBFF world championship 2010 Pro division.
See you all there, Go WBFF!!!
